La France has been batting her eyelashes at me ever since a couple of newfound Peace Corps buddies and I, jet lagged and gently soused, took in the Paris sites for a few hours before our onward flight to Freetown. I’ve been back a few times over the last 40 years, but never did I imagine I’d go to Provence and buy an old house. It’s insane — and maybe the sanest thing I’ve ever done.
