Bert’s Bio

I grew up near Philly, went to Quaker schools, did the Peace Corps thing, and learned Russian. Then I spent three decades or so trying to make the world better as a U.S. diplomat. It was hard but sometimes fun. The last few years it was just hard, but there were bills to pay. Once the kids were through school, I quit one year before mandatory and was surprised how quickly I adapted to not swimming in emails.

My wife and I then moved to France with our former Indian street puppy. I also brought my guitars and a bike. Then we bought an old house in Provence and turned it into a construction site.

That about covers it.
